SRM TRAINING ACADEMY – PROSPECTUS
Candidate Requirements
- The SRM Training Academy offers this course to all interested candidates who wish to make Surveying a career choice.
- The course includes mathematical knowledge sufficient for a candidate to undertake the contents of this course
Course Program and Outcomes
- This course is the foundation for all future survey certificates, including other discipline certificates.
- On successful completion of this course the candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have a comprehensive knowledge of the Basics of Surveying, both on a surface environment and in an underground environment.
- The candidate will not only have a knowledge of the theoretical aspects of surveying but also the practical aspects of surveying, thus equipping them to undertake the surveyors responsibilities of surveying.
- The course duration is 15 standard shifts of theoretical and practical surveying as well as the required Minerals Council (COM) examination requirements, where required. On successful completion of the course and the Minerals Council examination requirements a Minerals Council Elementary Mine Surveying certificate will be issued.
- This course consists of 10 modules, 8 assessments, 2 practical sessions, 10 hours of facilitators on-line problem solving guidance and 10 hours of on- site practical instruction. Examination techniques are also part of the program.
Administration and Course Duration Options
- SRM Training Academy will undertake all administration between the client and the Minerals Council.
- SRM Training Academy has the capacity to lecture in the following methods – Web based distance learning course, on site class lectures, Teams lectures and after shift hours including weekend training.
- All course options are designed and scheduled to suit you, as the management client.

Course Costs
Course costs, dates and number of required “on course” candidates are all subject to an agreement
between you, as the management client, and the SRM Training Academy. Costs are extremely
competitive. Travel and accommodation will be included into the costs when necessary.
